Liquid Web – a managed hosting provider with a net worth of $100 million – is probably best known as a provider of cloud and web hosting services and a key partner for all kinds of SMB entrepreneurs, developers, designers and digital agencies. They have a reputation for outstanding customer support, high availability and high performance dedicated server hosting.

Liquid Web’s customers are free to choose any hosting solution that suits their needs and business requirements, be it managed or self-managed or some hybrid of the two.

Thanks to the fact that Liquid Web own and monitor their own data servers, they can provide webmasters with everything they need – from bare metal servers to fully managed hosting options.

With a customer base of approximately 30,000 clients in 150 countries, it’s no surprise that the company pays a great deal of attention to its data center and employs an expert group of solution engineers. Liquid Web’s stellar achievements in customer service have led to them making Inc. magazine’s list of 5000 Fastest Growing Companies for ten straight years.

The company belongs to the Madison Dearborn Partners family of companies; Madison Dearborn Partners itself is a Chicago-based leading equity investment firm.

Leadership

On June 14, 2017, it was announced that Jeff King will join Liquid Web’s board of directors. King has been an industry stalwart for over 25 years. The company’s CEO praised King’s involvement with the GoDaddy Pro brand, adding that he expects King will be a big contributor to Liquid Web’s product development and business strategy. The company will continue to provide content and hosting needs for small to medium businesses and everyone involved with them.

At GoDaddy, King held the titles of the senior vice president and general hosting and security manager. He was mostly tasked with overseeing the work of the hosting and security unit. In related news, King is also an associate of the Webb Investment Network, a venture capital firm specializing in helping entrepreneurs during all stages of the startup life cycle. The group is dedicated to improving the world via technology, which further proves King’s passion for the industry.

Competition

A recent study by Cloud Spectator has revealed that Liquid Web is actually beating Amazon, DigitalOcean and Rackspace when it comes to cloud app and website performance. This mostly comes down to Liquid Web’s virtual machines performing more transactions at faster processing speeds.

Website speed is a key factor to visitor satisfaction, and a lot of users don’t bother waiting more than a couple of seconds for the page to load. Faster websites also have better search engine optimization and conversions.

In its report, Cloud Spectator focused on each of the four LAMP stack components: Apache, PHP, MySQL and Linux VM. The LAMP stack performance plays a big role in user’s overall app or website experience.

The Future

Considering web and cloud technologies continue to be adopted at an exceptional rate, we should expect SMBs, developers, designers and digital agencies to become more reliant on them in the following five years. Liquid Web has recently surveyed 450 web-dependent professionals, and about 80 percent of them shared the same view.
